


This Saturday 21 May 2011, don't miss the visit of Sterkfontein Caves, which includes a traditional visit of the caves and the discovery of a site rarely open to the public, Cooper's Caves!
Tickets are R200 and include transport, the museum and caves visits as well as the conference.
The departure is scheduled at 9am from the French Alliance of Johannesburg in Parkview. The morning will be dedicated to the visit of the Sterkfontein Caves and the Museum. Bring your own picnic for the lunch at the Cooper's site. The visit of the Cooper’s caves will be followed by a conference with palaeoanthropologist and project director of Cooper’s caves, Christine Steiniger, researcher Aurore Val and copermit holder of Sterkfontein Caves Dominique Stattford.
The return at the French alliance is planned at 5pm.

10th edition – “Appropriations foncières, biens publics mondiaux et logiques transnationales”
The journal Transcontinentales, edited by the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l’Homme (FMSH, House of the Sciences of Man) and supported by the twenty-seven Instituts Français de Recherche à l’Etranger (IFAS, French Research Institutes Abroad), is launching a call for papers for its 10th edition entitled "Appropriations foncières, biens publics mondiaux et logiques transnationales". The journal will be published online, in full-version, on the website www.revues.org
Deadline extended for two of IFAS Master’s bursaries
In 2011, as part of the research programmes supported by IFAS Research, five Master’s bursaries were issued for the conduction of field research. Two bursaries were specifically aimed at South African Master students and their deadline has been extended till 15th of March 2011. The bursaries are attached to the following programmes :
- Urban Protected Areas network (governance and management of national parks located in or nearby cities)
